CLASSICAL HATHA YOGA

Yoga is a good exercise for you if you experience a lot of tension in your body, if you have a busy chattering mind living with attachments to the past and anxieties of the future, and if you want to explore who you are other than your physical body.

Yoga aims to unite the mind, the body, and the spirit. Yogis view that the mind and the body are one, and that if it is given the right tools and taken to the right environment, it can find harmony and heal itself. Yoga therefore is considered therapeutic.

Yoga helps you become more aware of your body's posture, alignment and patterns of movement. It makes the body more flexible and helps you relax even in the midst of a stress stricken environment. This is one of the foremost reasons why people want to start practicing Yoga - to feel more fit, to be more energetic, be happier and peaceful.

In Yoga, the body's own weight is used for resistance and a great deal of focus is accorded to the flow from one posture into the other.

PILATES (Abdominal Work)

Pilates is about how you look—how you carry yourself and move. This exercise is for you if you want to work on getting rid of “love handles”, if you want to develop your abdominal muscles and strength and if you want to develop your “natural girdle”. You should consider enrolling in a Pilates class if you experience lower back pains or want to access your “core support” for daily functions.

In Pilates, we focus on strengthening the body’s “natural girdle”—the powerhouse. The exercises work the whole body, emphasizing control, precision and concentration in both the mind and the body. The abdominal muscles, lower back and buttocks (“powerhouse”) serve as the center of all movement, allowing the rest of the body to move freely.

Movements are not performed rapidly or repeated excessively instead, the focus is on quality not quantity--this focus on core stabilization makes one stronger from the inside out. Its six principles-concentration, control, centering, breathing, flow and precision-train the body to move efficiently with minimal impact on the body. The balance between strength and flexibility creates a healthy, vigorous and symmetrical workout for all muscle groups resulting in a leaner, more balanced, and stronger body.

YOGALATES

Yogalates is a perfect blend of Yoga and Pilates. You may be interested in yogalates if you’ve already explore one or the other and want to get a “complete” work-out with the benefits of both in one class. This exercise is for you if your schedule only permits you to get out for an hour once a week.

Half a class of Pilates and half a class of Classical Hatha YOGA (Beginners and Practising Programs Available). In this class, we start with a meditation on focus, strength, balance and/or breath and presence. Warm-ups are gentle yoga stretches followed by asanas (positions) with the yogic breath. The Pilates’ exercises follow with guided breath transition to a discipline focused on “core strength” through abdominal work.

MEDITATION CLASSES

We spend so much of our time in our heads that we forget to live in our hearts. You may be interested in this program if you suffer from anxiety, depression and everything in between. You may just want to come and relax your busy mind and learn how to cope with your daily stresses.

How can you "relax" if you don't know what relax "feels" like. Science is starting to reveal how meditation shapes the brain, heals the body, reduces stress, and creates greater joy. Come and learn simple meditation practices to improve focus, reduce stress, boost mood, and even improve your relationships with others. In my classes I teach a variety of restorative positions for meditations, different mudras to use in different situations and a selection of breathing exercises.
